Hebrew is built from three letter roots, and you can tease apart the meaning of sentences by breaking down each word into its root, construction, prefixes, and suffixes. In this class you will gain the tools to find the root of a word and work out its meaning from there. You will learn about one and two letter "words" that are just prefixes and suffixes in Hebrew rather than words of their own. Using online dictionaries you will find the meaning of the root, and different interpretations of the constructions from that root. From these basic building blocks, you will create your own translation of a portion of text from the Tanach (Hebrew Bible).
This course is taught in person at Walla Walla Community College through the Community Education program.
